Feelin’ So Fall: 5 Looks to Embrace the Season

by | Oct 3, 2016 | Beauty, Fashion, Mizzou, Schools, Style Tips

October is finally here, my favorite month of all months. To me, there is nothing better than waking up in the morning, and greeting the day with a mug full of coffee and a flannel around your waist.

Maybe it’s just me, but there is so much to look forwards to about fall. From spending time with friends at bonfires, corn mazes, or picking apples, there are so many activities to do in the fall that make my heart so happy!

However, it’s not just the season and the activities in October that make me happy. The fashion during the fall months are just like none other. While fall fashion from year to year doesn’t change that extremely, there are trends of every year that can definitely be adapted for fall. The following looks are a few things that I am all about this fall and I cannot wait to be wearing!

1. Layers. Lots of Them.

Every fall, it’s just the best to wear as many layers as possible. You don’t have to worry about how the weather will fluctuate that day, because you’ll be set to put on or take off more layers accordingly. This top from J.Crew is absolutely perfect for fall because it does some of the outfit planning for you and comes with a built in layer underneath. It is too dreamy! I need this in my life ASAP because I’d be wearing this constantly.

2. Allllll the Flannels.

Is anything really more fall than flannel? Dress them up or down, wear one in your school’s colors to a tailgate, or wear one around your waist with a t-shirt and Nike shorts. You really can’t go wrong with flannels. My favorite flannels are always oversized and usually from either Madewell or like this one below from American Eagle.

3. Bomber Jackets.

Bomber jackets are all the rage for this fall. When I was living in Spain earlier this year, it seemed as if every girl in the city I was in owned a bomber jacket. Now that they have started becoming uber popular in the U.S., I’m all about them even more. They seem like the perfect accessory to throw on over a tank and jeans outfit…and they’re so simple to dress up or down. I’m loving this one from H&M right now!

4. Reconstructed Denim.

As we say in just about every fashion week this fall, reconstructed denim is so in. Added panels, patchwork, embroidery, you name it. That’s only the beginning of the add-ons we are seeing this fall in all of the denim out there. I have a few pair of funky denim jeans and the best ones come from Free People. This pair of Levi’s below are my obsession and I’ve had my eyes on them ever since they hit Free People’s website.

5. Maxi Dresses.

After maxi dresses had their moment a few years ago, I thought we wouldn’t be seeing them again for a while, but I am proved wrong with their sudden reappearance this fall. The trend in maxi dresses this season seems to stem from a trend of fancy boho looks gaining popularity. With that being said, bohemian maxi dresses and flower crowns are coming back. Since this is a trend that I don’t know how long it will stick around for, an inexpensive dress like this one below from Forever XXI fits the bill for something that you can add to your closet without a huge investment!
